ABUAD Admission Requirements 2025/2026

All applicants may seek admission through either the Post UTME or Direct Entry methods. The UTME method is intended for those who wish to use their JAMB results for admission.

The Direct Entry method is for individuals with previous qualifications wanting to apply for admission based on those qualifications.

UTME Requirements

  1. Applicants are required to score credit level passes in at least five (5) subjects, which must include both English Language and Mathematics.

  2. Candidates must participate in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) organised by JAMB and achieve competitive scores.

  3. A minimum score of 180 in the UTME is required, although higher scores increase the chances of admission.

  4. The subjects selected for the UTME should match the intended area of study.

  5. ABUAD must be designated as the first choice institution during the UTME registration process.

Direct Entry Requirements

To gain direct entry into the 200 level at ABUAD, candidates are required to have five (5) credit passes in their O-Level examinations, as previously mentioned.

Applicants may submit other qualifications, such as a

  1. National Diploma (ND) with an Upper Credit

  2. National Certificate of Education (NCE) with Merit

  3. An interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) score of at least 8 points

  4. Joint University Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB) with a minimum of 8 points, or other equivalent credentials.

Requirements for ABUAD Postgraduate Courses / Programmes

For ABUAD postgraduate courses, you need the following requirements that we have laid out.

1. Postgraduate Diploma Requirements

The requirements for admission into the PGD programme are outlined below: 

  1. All applicants must have five credit passes, which must include English, Mathematics, and two additional relevant science subjects at the O-Level.  

  2. Candidates who hold a bachelor's degree from any NUC accredited university must have at least a 3rd Class degree in the appropriate field.  

  3. Individuals with an HND in related disciplines from recognised institutions and having a minimum of upper credit may also be eligible for admission.

2. Master’s Degree Requirements

The requirements for entry into the Master's Programme (M.Sc.) will be as follows: 

Every applicant must possess five credit passes, which must include English, Mathematics, and two additional relevant science subjects at O-Level.

3. Professional Master’s Degree Programme

Candidates for the professional master’s degree programme must obtain a minimum of a second class lower division in the relevant discipline of ABUAD or an equivalent from any other university approved by the NUC.

Candidates with a university degree in Third Class or HND plus a university PGD at credit level pass or 50% on weighted percentage average may be considered for admission into professional master’s degree programmes.

4. Academic Master’s Degree Programme

Applicants holding a bachelor’s degree in a pertinent field from ABUAD or another institution recognised by NUC should have at least a second class lower division with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0 for admission into an academic programme. 

Those with a minimum third class degree or an HND and a university PGD in the relevant field from ABUAD or another institution approved by NUC, with a CGPA of 3.0/5.0, may be eligible for admission into academic Master’s degree programs.
