A total of 1,808 corps members have completed their National Service Year in Osun State, with the State's passing out ceremony marking the close of what the NYSC State Coordinator described as a year of resilience, patriotism and community contribution.
The low key ceremony for the 2025 Batch A Stream I Corps Members took place simultaneously across all local government areas of the state in line with directives from the NYSC National Directorate Headquarters in Abuja. Osun NYSC State Coordinator Ekang Ita Kubiangha made the disclosures on Tuesday in Osogbo, confirming that out of 1,834 corps members originally deployed to the state, 1,808 comprising 914 males and 894 females were successfully issued their Certificates of National Service.
Thirteen corps members absconded during the year under review, while 12 others had their service extended due to various infractions in accordance with NYSC bye laws.
Kubiangha urged the outgoing corps members to carry the values of the scheme into the next phase of their lives. "As you step into the larger society, you must uphold the core values of the Scheme and remain good ambassadors of the NYSC. Your success will largely be determined by your character, diligence, and commitment to positive ideals," he said. He cautioned against indiscipline, warning that such traits could undermine future prospects, while diligence and integrity would open doors to opportunity.
The coordinator noted that the NYSC certificate confers a practical advantage in public service, placing holders on a higher entry level in government employment. He also advised corps members against laminating their certificates immediately, urging them to verify all details carefully before doing so to avoid complications during official verification processes.
For 1,808 young Nigerians now stepping out of the structured environment of national service and into an uncertain job market, the certificate in their hands is more than a formality. It is, as Kubiangha reminded them, the beginning of a chapter that only personal discipline and character can determine.
