The Senate of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology has cancelled the mid semester break earlier scheduled for this week, directing that lectures continue throughout the period instead.

The decision was contained in a notice signed by the Senate Secretary on behalf of the Chairman, addressed to the University community.

According to the notice, the Senate Approved Academic Calendar had earmarked Monday, 13th July to Friday, 17th July 2026 for the Second Semester Mid Semester Break of the 2025/2026 academic session. While affirming the University's wish to comply strictly with the calendar, the notice explained that current realities around syllabus coverage made the break unworkable at this time.

The circular attributed the disruption to the late resumption of students for the Second Semester, which in turn delayed the commencement of lectures across many departments. It noted that observing the break as originally scheduled would leave programmes unable to cover reasonable portions of their course content.

In light of this, the notice disclosed that the Chairman of the Senate had granted approval for lectures to continue throughout the week originally set aside for the break.

Deans, Heads of Department, and the wider University community were requested through the circular to take note of the directive, comply accordingly, and give it the necessary publicity within their respective departments.

The notice was signed off with an appeal for cooperation as the University works to keep its academic programmes on track for the semester.
