The Edo State Government has expressed commitment to partnering with the Nigerian Education Loan Fund and the Tertiary Education Trust Fund to expand access to quality tertiary education for students across the state.

Special Adviser to Governor Monday Okpebholo on Student Affairs and Mobilisation, Comrade Victor Akande, held separate meetings with NELFUND Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Akintunde Sawyerr and Senate Committee Chairman on TETFund, Senator Muntari Dandutse, conveying the governor's interest in securing educational opportunities for every Edo indigene.

Speaking to journalists in Benin City, Akande described his engagement with the NELFUND leadership as productive and centred on removing financial barriers to higher education.

"The meeting was highly productive and reaffirmed our shared commitment to removing financial barriers to higher education while creating greater opportunities for Edo students to achieve their academic aspirations," he said.

He expressed appreciation to the NELFUND management team for their reception and readiness to collaborate with the state government on educational development.

"Under the visionary leadership of His Excellency, Sen. Monday Okpebholo, we remain steadfast in our commitment to ensuring that no deserving Edo student is denied access to higher education because of financial constraints," Akande stated.

On the TETFund engagement, he said the discussion with the senator focused on strengthening collaboration to expand educational opportunities, enhance institutional development, and improve access to TETFund interventions across Edo State.

"I am encouraged by the Senator's warm reception, insightful contributions, and readiness to support initiatives that will benefit our students and educational institutions," he added.

Akande stressed that education remained the foundation of sustainable development and that through strategic partnerships, the Okpebholo administration would continue to deliver lasting value for the people of Edo State.
