The Students' Union Government Electoral Committee of Federal Polytechnic Oko has extended the sale of nomination forms for the 2026/2027 SUG election to Friday, 10 July 2026, giving eligible aspirants yet to obtain their forms a fresh opportunity to participate.

According to a notice dated 9 July 2026, the Committee urged interested candidates to take advantage of the extension, stressing that no further extension would be granted after the new deadline.

The notice was signed by Rtr Comr Nwafor Emmanuel (QLOZY) and Comr Oforkansi Obumneme Alexander on behalf of the Electoral Committee.

Eligible aspirants have been advised to complete the nomination process before the deadline to avoid missing out on the 2026/2027 SUG election.

The extension follows the initial sale of nomination forms to prospective candidates seeking to contest for various Students' Union Government positions ahead of the new academic session.

The Polytechnic has previously recorded tension around its Students' Union Government elections. In 2022, a scheduled SUG election was cancelled by school management following allegations of manipulation and rigging, with some aspirants accusing the electoral process of relying on an unreliable E Voting portal. Members of the National Association of Nigerian Students were present as observers during the protests that followed. The institution has also seen broader student unrest in recent years, including a 2024 protest by students over imposed examination fees, reflecting a pattern of student agitation whenever contentious decisions affecting the student body are made.
