The Governing Council of the Federal College of Education, Technical, Gombe, has approved the dismissal of four senior officers over allegations of gross misconduct. The decision was taken at the council’s seventh meeting held on January 31, 2026, at the National Commission for Colleges of Education headquarters in Abuja.

Those affected are the Registrar, Alhaji Umar Bello; the College Librarian, Yusuf Aliyu; the Director of Works and Services, Muhammad Malam; and Ibrahim Shehu, a council member representing the Non-Teaching Staff Congregation.

A statement issued on Tuesday by the Acting Director of Public Relations and Protocol, Dahiru Gurama, said the action followed earlier suspensions and the outcome of internal and external investigations.

“The dismissals followed earlier suspensions and were based on the findings and recommendations of a fact-finding committee set up by the Federal Ministry of Education, as well as the Governing Council’s Investigative Committee, which indicted the officers on various counts of gross misconduct,” the statement said.

The council explained that the measure was taken in line with established procedures and its responsibility to maintain accountability in the management of the institution.

To ensure administrative continuity, the council approved the appointment of Mallam Haruna N Ayuba, the most senior Deputy Registrar, as Acting Registrar.

The Provost, Professor Ali Adamu, said the management remains committed to transparency, discipline, and compliance with federal guidelines regulating tertiary institutions.
