Jide Taiwo and Co. has offered automatic employment to six final year students of the Department of Estate Management at the University of Lagos, while also announcing a ₦1 million scholarship and rewards package for outstanding graduating students.
The offers were made during the firm's 2026 Career Day and Job Fair, held over the weekend at the University of Lagos, where industry professionals engaged students on career pathways in estate surveying, valuation and the broader built environment sector.
The ₦1 million package is designated for the overall best graduating student and the best female graduating student, among other recognitions.
Regional Manager for Lagos Island at the firm, Bashir Tajudeen, described the initiative as part of the company's commitment to developing young professionals and closing the gap between university training and industry practice. He noted that the fair was organised to deepen collaboration between academia and industry and equip students for professional careers ahead of graduation.
The Faculty of Environmental Sciences Dean, Professor Olumide Adenuga, used his opening remarks to stress that education must translate into practical application. "What is of utmost importance is the application of knowledge derived from hours of study and deliberate preparation for life after graduation," he stated.
The Head of Department of Estate Management, Professor Hikmot Koleosho, commended Jide Taiwo and Co. for reinforcing the link between academic training and professional practice, and urged students to take full advantage of the engagement to prepare for the demands of the field.
A lecture titled Classroom to Boardroom: Mapping Your Career Path in the Built Sector was delivered by the firm's General Manager for Facilities Management, ESV Adebiyi Ayeni, who told students that long term success in the profession depends on more than academic qualifications.
"The profession rewards excellence, integrity, focus, adaptability, experience and continuous growth, far beyond what the classroom alone can offer," he disclosed.
