The Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic, Kaltungo in Gombe State has pledged to reposition the institution to better serve Nigeria's industrial and technological needs, with focus on infrastructure development, staff welfare and academic excellence.

The newly appointed council chairman, Dr Yusuf Muhammad, pledged during an interactive session with management, staff, and students of the institution.

Muhammad described polytechnics as indispensable to Nigeria's industrial and technological aspirations, stressing that they remain critical to middle level manpower development and national growth.

"We are partners in progress. Everything we do is to improve and make things work better," he assured staff and students.

He noted that the council had taken note of concerns raised by staff unions and students, adding that the engagement would strengthen dialogue, transparency and unity within the institution. Muhammad also commended Rector Dr Ibrahim Babale Gashua and the management team for maintaining a cordial relationship with staff unions, and applauded students for their discipline and commitment.

The council chairman reassured the polytechnic community of support for projects and policies that would improve infrastructure, staff welfare and student experience. Staff and student representatives thanked Muhammad for his visit, saying it had boosted morale and renewed commitment to the institution's growth.

In a separate development, Muhammad inspected completed and ongoing projects at both the permanent and take off sites of the polytechnic, expressing satisfaction with progress and urging contractors to adhere strictly to specifications and timelines.
