The fourth edition of the Science Tech Summit organised by the Nigeria Association of Science Students, Lagos State University of Education, has secured more than N5m in scholarships, startup funding and entrepreneurship grants for students.

The summit, themed “Evolution”, brought together industry leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, government representatives and students to discuss technology, innovation, leadership, entrepreneurship and career development. It was held at the Oluremi Tinubu Hall, LASUED.

The Head of Program STS 4.0, Damilare Adegbite, noted that one of the major outcomes of the event was the financial and educational support secured through partnerships with private organisations committed to youth development and innovation.

According to him, stakeholders provided more than ₦2m in product management scholarships and entrepreneurship grants, while Bizoach committed over N1m in startup funding, school fee support and entrepreneurship grants.

The statement added that ENOVERLAB awarded product management scholarships worth ₦1.5m, while Digital Encode provided ₦500,000 in cash grants to support innovation and career growth among students.

The summit, organisers said, was designed to prepare students for opportunities in the future economy and to position them for relevance in fast changing industries. The support packages, they added, would give beneficiaries access to industry relevant skills, mentorship opportunities, startup support and career acceleration programmes.

Taiwo Samuel, convener of STS 4.0 and President of NASS, LASUED, said the summit demonstrated what students can achieve when given access to the right opportunities.

“STS 4.0 is proof that students can become creators, innovators, entrepreneurs and industry leaders when given access to the right opportunities.

“Our mission is to ensure that every LASUED student is equipped not only with a degree but also with the skills, network and mindset required to thrive in a rapidly evolving world,” he said.

The statement added that the summit received support from several organisations, including Matrix, Monica Technologies, Digital Encode, Bizoach, Nairametrics, UR9 Group, ENOVERLAB, Aeroport Group, Doncians Publishing Company, TBJ Media Group, Dufil Prima Foods and Immersion VR.
