The National Youth Service Corps has partnered with Wema Bank to equip outgoing 2025 Batch B Stream I corps members in Edo State with employability, entrepreneurship, and personal branding skills aimed at easing their transition into the labour market.
The one day Career Fair and Job Advisory and Counselling workshop, held in Benin City, was organised under the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative to prepare corps members for employment, business opportunities, and long term career growth.
Edo State NYSC Coordinator, Fasina Adedotun, urged participants to make the most of the opportunity, noting that the programme was designed to prepare them for life after national service. He commended Wema Bank for supporting the workshop, stating that the partnership would help corps members navigate the transition from service to the workplace more effectively.
Head of Youth Banking at Wema Bank, Bunmi Ayodele, described the collaboration as a reflection of the Bank's commitment to helping young Nigerians achieve their career and entrepreneurial ambitions through youth focused initiatives.
Director of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative, Delfila Eze, represented at the event, explained that the programme was introduced to ensure corps members complete their service year equipped with practical skills and career support. She noted that the initiative, launched in 2012, complements orientation and post camp entrepreneurship training by preparing participants for life beyond service.
Head of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development initiative in Edo State, Blessing Olong, stated that the workshop was designed to help corps members make informed career decisions, whether they intend to pursue paid employment, start businesses, or continue their education.
The programme featured sessions on employability skills, career readiness, personal branding, entrepreneurship, and networking opportunities, all aimed at improving participants' chances of success after completing their service year.
