The National Youth Service Corps has extended the service year of several corps members and discharged others who absconded during the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 service year, as passing out ceremonies were conducted across two states.
In Anambra State, NYSC Coordinator Mrs Pauline Ojisua disclosed that nine corps members would repeat their service year for absconding from the mandatory exercise, while two others received extensions on disciplinary grounds. She added that five corps members were retained by their employers. A total of 933 corps members of the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 were formally discharged after completing the one year national service, with the certificate issuance ceremony held simultaneously across the 21 local government areas of the state.
In Osun State, coordinator Ekeng Ita Kubiangha revealed that 18 corps members absconded during the service year, while the service of 11 others was extended for various infractions in accordance with the provisions of the NYSC Bye Laws. A total of 1,702 corps members completed the national service and received their Certificates of National Service. The passing out ceremony was conducted simultaneously across the 30 local government areas and the Area Office in the state.
Ojisua congratulated outgoing corps members and urged them to embrace self reliance by applying entrepreneurial and vocational skills acquired during the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme rather than waiting for white collar jobs.
"I advise you to join the NYSC Foundation to sustain your relationship with the scheme and continue supporting its objectives," she said.
Kubiangha similarly charged outgoing participants to remain committed to integrity, determination, and excellence as they transitioned into their careers.
"The Certificate of National Service should serve as a foundation for building successful and impactful careers through hard work, innovation, resilience, and discipline," he stated.
Outstanding Corps Liaison Officers in Osun State were also presented with Certificates of Commendation in recognition of their leadership and meritorious service during the service year.
