The University of Lagos Management Students Association held the second edition of its Ladies' Day event at Tayo Aderinokun Hall, with MTN Foundation Chairman Dr. Mosun Belo Olusoga calling on female students to eliminate distractions, invest in self discovery and pursue lives of deliberate purpose.
Belo Olusoga delivered the keynote address on the theme "DeclutHer: Finding Herself in the Midst of Quiet Purpose," drawing on her career trajectory as the first female Executive Director at GTBank and the first female Board Chairman at Access Bank to anchor her message on reinvention and intentional living.
"In today's world filled with distractions, you young ladies need to declutter your minds, emotions, and social and physical wellbeing. You must prioritize what is important, rediscover your skills and identity, and make wise choices when it comes to the company you keep," she told the audience.
She noted that discovering purpose requires a structured process of reinvention, encompassing the elimination of distractions, identification of personal skills and passions, disciplined time management, and cultivating the right relationships. She also underscored the role of faith and lifelong learning in sustaining a purposeful life.
Project lead for the edition and 400 level Finance student Queen Ashley Akokota said the event, themed "Ladies Out.2.0," was designed to build community among female students and equip them to pursue leadership with confidence.
"The goal was to encourage female students to think outside the box, break stereotypes, sit at the table, and become leaders," Akokota said, adding that MSA's broader programming includes health talks, academic debates, quizzes and professional mentorship initiatives.
Participant Iyene Oludemi, a 300 level student, described the event as one that exceeded her expectations, saying it offered her direct exposure to accomplished professional women and practical insights into building a successful career.
The Ladies' Day platform, now in its second year, has positioned itself as a flagship initiative within the MSA calendar aimed at shaping the professional outlook and personal development of female management students at the institution.
