Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has charged Corps Members deployed to the state to remain neutral and professional as the state approaches its 15 August governorship election.

The governor issued the warning on Monday while declaring open the 2026 Batch B, Stream I Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede. He was represented at the event by Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Professor Moruf Adeleke.

"I urge you, as corps members, to remain apolitical and professional in the discharge of your electoral duties. Do not allow the credibility of our electoral process to be marred by your actions. The state is looking up to you to help ensure the integrity of the election," the Governor stated.

He further urged the 2026 Batch B, Stream I corps members to reject all forms of undue influence and to uphold the regulations of both the NYSC scheme and the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Adeleke also assured the corps members of his administration's commitment to their welfare and safety, encouraging them to approach their primary assignments with patriotism, humility, and dedication to national development.

NYSC State Coordinator Mr Ekeng Kubiangha, who spoke earlier at the event, confirmed that 3,000 Corps Members were deployed to Osun State for the batch, comprising 1,600 females and 1,400 males.

Kubiangha commended the governor for sustained government support of the NYSC scheme in the state and echoed the call for electoral neutrality.

"Do not allow yourselves to be influenced by any form of inducement or undue pressure. Adhere strictly to INEC guidelines. By doing so, you will contribute meaningfully to the conduct of a peaceful, free, fair, and credible election," he stated.

The oordinator also advised corps members to embrace Nigeria's diversity by forging friendships across ethnic, religious, and cultural divides, and to comply with all camp rules designed to promote safety, discipline, and personal development.

Osun State is among the states scheduled to hold Governorship elections in the second half of 2026, with the poll date set for 15 August.
