Abia State University (ABSU) announces the commencement of the 2025/2026 hostel allocation exercise. The University Management, dedicated to providing a secure and serene living environment, has streamlined a clear path for the hostel allocation process to ensure every student, whether newly admitted or a returning students have access to a bedspace.

ABSU Hostel Allocation 2025/2026 Academic Session

ABSU hostel allocation will officially commence on the resumption date, 1st December 2025. The University has more than 5,000 capacity of hostel space for students.

Regardless, due to the high number of students in ABSU and the struggle to get hostel space, the school management has placed the hostel allocation on a strict "first come, first served policy."

So applying early gives you the upper hand in securing your room and settling in fully for the session.

How to Apply for ABSU Hostel 2025/2026 Session

Phase 1

  • Visit portal.abiastateuniversity.edu.ng

  • Log in with your matric number and password for old students, or your application number for new students.

  • On your dashboard, click on "request hostel allocation."

  • Enter your school fees confirmation order number

  • Submit the request and wait for approval. You will typically receive a notification on the portal when a space has been assigned.

Phase 2

  • Once your request has been approved, follow the steps to complete payment.

  • Navigate to "hostel allocation status" on the portal

  • Click on "generate hostel payment Invoice. Which contains an RRR number

  • Make payment by either online (with an ATM card) or by visiting the following commercial banks: ABSU Microfinance Bank (Uturu campus), First Bank, Zenith Bank, Fidelity Bank, Union Bank, Ecobank

Phase 3

  • After payment, log back into the portal.

  • Go to the "hostel allocation status" section.

  • Enter your hostel fee confirmation order number (from your new receipt).

  • Click "print hostel slip." This slip will show your hall name and room number.

Rules and Regulations in ABSU Hostel

  • Lock time for most hostels is around 10 PM. Students must make sure they are inside the hostels before curfew time.

  • Male students are strictly prohibited from entering female hostels (and vice versa); all visitation must not go beyond the designated waiting rooms.

  • Visitors are usually only allowed between 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM.

  • Cooking is strictly limited to the designated cooking areas.

  • Smoking, possession of illicit drugs, and excessive alcohol consumption are strictly prohibited and can lead to expulsion from the hostel.

  • Loud music, shouting, or any form of noise pollution that disturbs others’ study or sleep is prohibited.

  • Students are held financially liable for any damage to university property in their assigned rooms.

  • Squatting is a serious offense and can lead to immediate eviction or a heavy fine.

  • Keeping animals within the hostel premises is not allowed.
