Abia State University (ABSU) officially announces the resumption date for both students and staff for the 2025/2026 academic session. The announcement on resumption followed immediately after the academic calendar of the university was approved by the school senate for the session.

ABSU has structured the resumption in a way that is easy for everyone to follow. New students are to arrive first to get a head start on their orientation, while our returning students follow shortly after to begin their advanced lectures.

ABSU Official Resumption Date 2025/2026 Session

After a concluded meeting by the university senate, it was agreed by the body that December 1st, 2025, will be the official resumption date of both fresh and returning students on campus.

The resumption date announcement is to be taken with so much seriousness, because registration of students and lecturers will commence immediately as well.

Important dates for the session

  • Monday, 1st December 2025: Arrival and registration for new students.

  • Saturday, 6th December 2025: Registration for returning students

  • Monday, 8th December 2025: Commencement of first semester lectures

  • Friday, 12th December 2025: Orientation for new students

  • Friday, 19th December 2025: Christmas break begins

  • Monday, 12th January 2026: Lectures resume after Christmas break.

Note: It is obligatory for all students, both new and old, to complete their school fees payment. This is because students who have yet to pay will not be given access to complete their registration.

How to Complete ABSU Registrations

After completing school fees and acceptance fee as a newly admitted student, here are other breakdowns to follow.

Online Bio Data & Clearance

  • Complete your student information form (Biodata) on the portal. Ensure your passport photograph and O'level results are uploaded correctly.

  • Newly admitted students need to verify their O'level results (WAEC/NECO) on the portal by providing the required scratch card details.

Course Registration

  • Visit portal.abiastateuniversity.edu.ng

  • Log in with your username and password

  • Select course registration from the menu

  • Choose the courses prescribed by your department for the current semester

  • Click submit and print at least four copies of the completed C

    course registration form.

Physical Clearance

Once the online steps are done, head to the campus for physical documentation. You will typically need to submit files to the admissions office, your faculty, and your department.

  • JAMB admission letter & result slip.

  • ABSU admission letter & acceptance receipt.

  • School fees receipt.

  • O'level result (Verified).

  • LGA Identification Letter.

  • Birth certificate or age declaration.

Q. Can I attend lectures without paying fees?
A. Yes, you can, but you are not yet a complete student. Without fees, you cannot register for your courses; without that, it is pointless to attend lectures.

Q. What is the penalty for late registration?
A. Late registration attracts a fine of 5,000 Naira.

Q. Is ABSU still accepting new students for this session?
A. Yes, ABSU Supplementary admission list is yet to be released. So new students will still be accepted.

Q. What is the current attendance policy?
A. ABSU requires 75% attendance from students to qualify them to sit for the first semester examination. So, resuming early is important.

Q. I have not done my physical clearance; can I still do it?
A.Yes, but you must hurry. Visit the admissions Office with your original documents and portal receipts.
