A decision taken at Bowen University's 121st governing council meeting on Thursday, 19 February 2026, has resulted in the appointment of the institution's fourth substantive registrar, who assumed his position on Monday.
Mr Eyitayo Oyeniyi Ojemola steps into the role, having spent 17 of his more than 25 years of professional experience at Bowen University, most recently as Deputy Registrar and Special Assistant to the Vice Chancellor. In that capacity, he was responsible for strategic coordination across the university's governance structures.
Ojemola's profile extends beyond university administration. He holds the rank of Chief Superintendent of Police in the Nigeria Police Supernumerary Unit and has maintained decades of involvement in Baptist church leadership, discipleship training, youth development, and civic engagement.
The appointment was announced by the Head of Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Mr Adewale Havilah Sam Aliyu, who described the new registrar as "a distinguished professional university administrator, governance and faith driven institutional leader."
Bowen University, a faith based institution in Iwo, Osun State, has built its identity around the values of integrity and godly leadership. In appointing a registrar whose record spans academic governance, law enforcement, and church service, the governing council appears to have sought someone whose background reflects precisely those commitments. Whether that combination translates into the administrative outcomes the institution expects remains to be seen.
