Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, recently held a technical workshop on the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Business and Education, highlighting contributions from key industry figures. Among those recognised was Dr. Emeka Ezekwe, Managing Director and CEO of Arrowconn Group and Chairman of the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce Professional Services and Consultancy Trade Group.
The event, organised by the Department of Business Education in the Faculty of Technology and Vocational Education and hosted at the ASUU NAU Secretariat, focused on “Technicalities and Application of Artificial Intelligence in Business and Education.” Dr. Ezekwe served as the keynote speaker, outlining the transformative role of AI in modern enterprises and learning environments.
In acknowledgment of his support for academic initiatives and human capital development, Dr. Ezekwe received the Philanthropist Award and the Award of Excellence, also referred to as the Award of Digital Academic Promoter, from the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Ugochukwu Bond Stanley Anyaehie.
During his presentation, Dr. Ezekwe described AI as a civilisational shift, comparing its growth to previous innovations such as electricity, computers, and mobile technology. He emphasised that businesses and educational institutions must adopt AI to remain relevant. He highlighted AI’s practical benefits, including decision making, strategic planning, personalised learning, assessment support, and accelerated research capabilities.
The workshop concluded with recognition of the need for collaboration between academia and industry to close AI skill gaps and ensure effective adoption in business and education across Nigeria.
