The Governor of Bauchi State, Governor Bala Mohammed, has called for the integration of Arabic education into Nigeria's national curriculum, urging authorities to ensure that graduates who obtained qualifications from Arabic speaking countries receive equal recognition within the country's education system.

Mohammed made the call on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of Saudi Arabian businessmen and Nigerian students studying in Saudi universities at Government House, Bauchi. The delegation was led by Dr Shuaibu Abubakar Idris, the Director of the Centre for Sunnah Studies in Africa.

The governor expressed concern over what he described as the gradual neglect of Northern Nigeria's Arabic educational heritage, noting that the region maintains deep educational, religious, and cultural ties with the Arab world that must be preserved and strengthened.

Mohammed recalled that Bauchi State once operated a thriving Arabic College in Alkaleri but said the institution was abandoned by previous administrations. He called for its revival as part of broader efforts to promote quality Arabic education and expand opportunities for future generations of Nigerian students.

Dr Idris said the delegation's visit was aimed at introducing Saudi investors exploring partnership opportunities in Bauchi State and briefing the governor on the centre's engagement with Bauchi students currently studying in Saudi Arabia.

Representatives of Nigerian students in Saudi universities thanked the governor for his support and pledged to return home after graduation and contribute their acquired knowledge and experience to the development of Bauchi State and Nigeria.
