Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Who is eligible to apply for BSUM hostels?
A. Only students who have fully paid their school fees, completed their semester course registration, and paid the non refundable hostel application fee are eligible.

Q. Why does the portal say "No available space" just minutes after opening?
A. With over 17,000 students and only about 2,300 bed spaces, the demand is massive. Spaces usually sell out within the first hour of the portal opening.

Q. How long does a reservation last before payment?
A. Once you click "Apply Now" and reserve a space, you have a strict 24 hour window to complete the payment. If you miss this, the system automatically releases the space.

Q. Is the hostel fee paid every semester or every session?
A. The fee covers one full academic session (two semesters). You must reapply and pay again at the start of every new session.

Q. What happens to my belongings during the holidays?
A. Students are generally required to vacate the hostels with all their belongings during long breaks. The school is not liable for items left behind.

Q. If I change my mind, can I get a refund?
A. Hostel fees are generally non refundable once the allocation has been processed. It is important to be sure you want to stay on campus before making the payment.

Q. Can freshers apply for hostels immediately after seeing their name on the university admission list?
A. No, you must first complete your physical screening, pay your acceptance and school fees, and get your matriculation number before the portal will allow you to apply for a hostel.

Q. Can I choose a specific room or bed?
A. The portal allows you to select a hostel block, but specific room and bed assignments are usually handled physically at the Student Affairs Division after you present your allocation slip.
