LG Electronics has donated a solar powered borehole to the College of Education, Warri, as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable community development.

The donation, carried out during the weekend, is designed to provide students and staff with reliable access to clean and safe water while encouraging the use of renewable energy solutions. According to the company, the facility is expected to improve hygiene standards and create a more supportive learning environment within the institution.

Speaking at the handover ceremony, the Provost, Dickson Onovwakpoma Oyovwi, expressed appreciation to LG Electronics for the intervention. He described the project as a major contribution to the college, noting that access to clean water had been a long standing challenge for students and staff.

According to him, the borehole has been sustaining the hostel since its installation, improving daily activities and overall wellbeing within the academic community. He commended the company for identifying the institution’s needs and supporting education through the initiative.

The provost also called on other corporate organisations to support educational development and community welfare. He thanked LG Electronics for what he described as a meaningful partnership with the college.

Also speaking at the event, the Head of Corporate Marketing, LG Electronics Nigeria, Paul Mba, said the company remains committed to improving lives through sustainable solutions. He noted that the donation reflects the organisation’s dedication to supporting education and addressing real community needs.

Paul Mba stated that meaningful innovation goes beyond technology, adding that the company’s efforts are focused on enhancing the quality of life in the communities where it operates.

The Secretary General of the Student Union Government, Testimony, also expressed gratitude to LG Electronics for the project. She said the borehole would reduce the difficulty students face in accessing clean water and help them concentrate better on their studies. She assured that the student body would ensure proper maintenance of the facility.

Principal officers of the college and representatives of LG Electronics attended the commissioning ceremony. They included Moses Osime, Oghenevize Moses Umukoro, Anomioghene Afure Joe, Ejiro Sandra Ukubeyinje, Dorcas Abiri, Clinton Oyovwi, and Godwin Ejumi, among others.
