The Management of Federal Polytechnic of Oil and Gas, Bonny (FEDPOLY Bonny) has alerted the general public to individuals demanding payment for admission forms from prospective students, disclosing that the practice does not originate from the Institution. Management stated that the Polytechnic does not sell JAMB- intended admission forms and does not transact with individuals in any manner.

According to the Institution, it operates as an organised corporate entity guided by extant laws, and its staff will not demand money from anyone in exchange for admission. Management described the individuals involved as fraudsters at the best of their game, willing to short change unsuspecting members of the public, and urged vigilance, noting that to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Candidates and guardians seeking legitimate information were directed to the Institution's approved channels, including a phone contact of 08039429603 and the email address info@fedpolybonny.edu.ng.

The warning reflects a wider pattern flagged in this admission cycle. JAMB has stated that no admission is valid unless processed through its Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) and accompanied by an official JAMB admission letter, with institutions that admit candidates outside this process described as engaging in illegality. Similar cautions have come from other institutions, including the University of Abuja, which recently warned candidates against fraudulent admission information circulated by unauthorised individuals and platforms regarding its admission exercise.

Cybersecurity sources have noted that victims of admission scams risk consequences beyond financial loss, including exposure to identity theft, with fraudsters commonly creating unofficial social media groups bearing the names of known institutions to appear genuine.

FEDPOLY Bonny was established by the Federal Government on 14th June 2014 to train manpower for the oil and gas sector, a mainstay of the national economy. The Institution, located on Bonny Island in Rivers State, currently runs 15 accredited programmes at National Diploma and Higher National Diploma levels and maintains partnerships with industry operators, including the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas company, which is based on the same island.
