The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to transforming the Nigerian Army University, Biu, into a leading institution for specialised military and civilian education, with the Minister of Defence, Gen. Christopher Musa (retd.), announcing plans for major infrastructure development and expanded opportunities for military personnel.

Musa gave the assurance when he received the Governing Council of the university in his office in Abuja, describing the institution as critical to building the technical and operational capacity required to address Nigeria's evolving security challenges.

The minister disclosed that the Ministry of Defence would collaborate with the Armed Forces of Nigeria to fully utilise the 30% admission quota reserved for military personnel, to bridge specialised skills gaps across the national security sector.

"As the Federal Government pushes for a highly skilled workforce in this digital era, we must encourage members of the Armed Forces, ministry staff and the general public to leverage the cutting edge technological and academic solutions available at NAUB," Musa stated.

On infrastructure, the minister confirmed that the Ministry and the Governing Council had agreed to prioritise critical campus projects. Chief among these is the construction of a Centre for Military Performance Management, described as the first facility of its kind in Africa.

The Pioneer Pro Chancellor of the university and leader of the delegation, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd.), commended Musa for his leadership and strategic contributions to strengthening Nigeria's defence architecture, and assured the minister of the university's continued dedication to academic excellence, research and national service.
