Sen. Udoma Udo Udoma, a former minister and current Chairman of Seplat Energy, has been appointed as the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State University by Governor Umo Eno.

His appointment was disclosed on Monday in Uyo in an official announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Enobong Uwah. The disclosure came as part of arrangements for the inauguration of the newly formed Governing Council of the university.

With this appointment, Udoma will head the council tasked with overseeing the affairs and governance of Akwa Ibom State University.

The state government also confirmed the appointment of other council members. They include Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem, Mfoniso Essien, a surveyor, Lady Dr Stella Udoh, and Dr Enefiok Ede.

In addition, officials representing the Akwa Ibom State Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Science and Digital Economy have been selected to serve on the council.

The announcement marked the formal constitution of the university’s governing body, with the inauguration of its members scheduled to proceed as planned.

The new council is expected to assume responsibility for guiding the institution’s administration following its official inauguration.
