The Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, has announced the schedule for its 2025 Orientation Programme, designed to induct newly admitted students into the university's academic and social culture.

According to the management, the three day programme will run from Tuesday, December 16 to Thursday, December 18, 2025, marking the first major step in preparing incoming students for campus life ahead of academic activities.

In its statement, the university management expressed excitement about receiving new students, describing the orientation exercise as an essential component of the academic calendar.

The institution highlighted that orientation is not merely ceremonial but a structured programme that equips students with key information required to settle quickly into their new environment.

FUPRE explained that the orientation will serve as the first official contact between fresh students and the university's leadership, including principal officers, deans, heads of departments, and administrative directors.

The management believes this early familiarization helps reduce confusion and anxiety among new entrants.

The orientation programme will include sessions designed to acquaint students with academic rules and regulations governing their studies.

These sessions will cover vital topics such as course registration procedures, examination ethics, credit load management, academic integrity, and class attendance expectations.

The university emphasized that early exposure to these guidelines is crucial in preventing avoidable academic challenges later in the session.

Special attention will be given to welfare and support services available to students. Units such as the Health Services Department, Guidance and Counselling Centre, Student Affairs Division, and Security Department will brief students on accessing their services.

New students will also be educated on safety measures, emergency procedures, and campus policies designed to protect their well-being throughout their studies at FUPRE.

Beyond academics and welfare, the orientation will introduce students to the social and extracurricular dimensions of campus life.

Representatives of registered student associations, academic clubs, and professional bodies will create awareness about their activities. FUPRE considers student engagement in extracurricular activities vital for holistic development, fostering leadership, teamwork, and community participation.

A guided campus tour is scheduled to help students familiarize themselves with facilities such as lecture halls, laboratories, the library, ICT centres, hostels, and sports facilities.

The university urged all newly admitted students to attend the orientation programme fully, noting that participation is often linked to better adaptation and higher academic performance.

The management stressed that many challenges fresh students face each year are avoidable when they take advantage of information and guidance offered during orientation. Attendance is expected to be mandatory.
