The management of the University of Cross River State (UNICROSS) has reaffirmed its commitment to resolving outstanding staff salary arrears, assuring that academic activities will continue without disruption.
According to a statement issued in Calabar, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Francisca Bassey, said the University is “working assiduously to resolve the salary issue” and has engaged relevant authorities over recent weeks to find a lasting solution.
As part of these efforts, Prof. Bassey met with the Deputy Governor to present the University’s financial situation and staff concerns. The Deputy Governor acknowledged the issues and assured management that they would receive attention. UNICROSS further confirmed that discussions with the State Government are ongoing, and the Governor has been informed and is expected to prioritise the matter upon his arrival in the State.
The University’s Management emphasised that it remains engaged with all relevant stakeholders to ensure a swift and amicable resolution. The statement concluded by appreciating the patience and understanding of staff, students, and the wider University community during this period.
