Engr. Prof. Olumide Moses Ogundipe has been appointed Deputy Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology and Environmental Sciences, Iyin Ekiti (FUTES IYIN), the Institution disclosed. The appointment caps a career spanning more than two decades in academia and engineering practice.

Prof. Ogundipe, a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers, holds the rank of Professor of Civil Engineering, specialising in Transportation and Highway Engineering. He currently serves as a National Exco member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, and colleagues within and outside the Institution have commended the appointment.

Before his elevation, Prof. Ogundipe served as Director of Special Duties in the Office of the Vice Chancellor at FUTES IYIN. He had earlier served, on a pro bono basis, as Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology between April and December 2025, during which he coordinated a National Universities Commission resource verification exercise covering eight programmes in the Faculty. He currently chairs the University's Road Projects Monitoring Committee and sits on the Students' Disciplinary Committee.

His academic pedigree was built over many years at Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti, where he rose from Assistant Lecturer in 2004 to Professor with effect from 1st October 2019, holding positions including Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Head of Department. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom, in 2012, funded by a Petroleum Technology Development Fund Scholarship awarded in 2008. He also holds a Master of Engineering from the University of Ilorin, obtained in 2006, and a Bachelor of Engineering with First Class Honours from the University of Ado Ekiti, now Ekiti State University, obtained in 2001.

Prof. Ogundipe has authored over 100 publications focused on sustainable asphalt pavement technologies, and has examined professorial candidates at institutions including Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and Landmark University, Omu Aran. He has represented the South West on the Nigerian Society of Engineers National Executive Committee and serves as Technical Advisor to the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute.

Associates described the appointment as recognition of a career built on academic excellence and steady leadership.
