In a decisive move to bolster the state’s legal infrastructure, Governor Mai Mala Buni has officially authorised the immediate issuance of scholarships to 148 indigent students bound for the Nigerian Law School.
The executive mandate, confirmed Monday in Damaturu, ensures full academic coverage for the upcoming 2026/2027 session, targeting high potential candidates across all 17 Local Government Councils.
Representing the Governor, Commissioner for Higher Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Bello Kawuwa, finalised the disbursement following a high level joint session with the Yobe State Scholarships Board.
This intervention signals a critical expansion of the administration’s human capital development strategy, prioritising the professional placement of Yobe’s youth within the nation’s premier legal institutions.
The Buni administration reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining an uninterrupted support system for students, characterising education service delivery as the foundational pillar of the state’s future.
Officials emphasised that this investment catalyses growth, urging the 148 recipients to demonstrate academic excellence that justifies the state's significant financial commitment to the sector.
The government underscored that this initiative is part of a broader, non negotiable agenda to sustain progress across education, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
As the disbursement concludes, the focus shifts to the Nigerian Law School in Lagos, where these 148 scholars are now cleared to begin their professional journey under full state sponsorship.
