The Kebbi State Government has dissolved the Governing Council of Abdullahi Fodio University of Science and Technology, Aliero, and relieved its Vice Chancellor and two Deputy Vice Chancellors of their appointments, with the decision taking immediate effect from April 30, 2026.
The affected Deputy Vice Chancellors are those in charge of Academics and Administration. The Registrar and Bursar of the institution were equally removed, while the appointment of one Abba Muhammad Adua was also terminated.
The decision followed the State Executive Council's consideration of recommendations from a visitation panel established to review the university's affairs. A statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Yakubu Bala Tafida, confirmed that the council approved the dissolution and removals based on the panel's findings.
Beyond the top leadership, the Registrar and Bursar of the institution have also been removed, and the appointment of Abba Muhammad Adua has been terminated.
To stabilise governance at the institution, Professor Samaila Arzika Mungadi has been appointed Sole Administrator, with a mandate to restore academic integrity and oversee the university pending the reconstitution of a new governing council and the appointment of new principal officers.
The government further commended members of the visitation panel for what it described as a thorough job that guided the council's decision.
