Less than two years after commencing academic activities, the Leadtech School of Management and Technology in Abuja has received the African Trailblazer Excellence Award, recognising its contributions to skills based and technology driven education across the continent.

The award was presented by the Unveiling African Parliament Writers in collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission, citing the Institution's achievements in entrepreneurship development and rapid institutional growth since it began full academic operations on September 25, 2024.

Rector Dr Musbau Abdulazeez attributed the recognition to the institution's focus on practical education, technological innovation and entrepreneurial culture among its students.

"Leadtech was nominated and selected for the award because of its pioneering role in promoting skills acquisition, technology driven learning and entrepreneurial culture among students," he stated.

Dr Abdulazeez highlighted several milestones recorded since the institution opened, including the successful matriculation of its first set of students shortly after receiving approval and accreditation, and the expansion of its library holdings to more than 10,000 multidisciplinary books and learning materials.

The Institution, which holds full accreditation from the Federal Ministry of Education and the National Board for Technical Education to offer National Diploma and Higher National Diploma programmes, has also acquired a 5,000 square metre property for its Faculty of Engineering and the Leadtech Edutech Technology Centre.

Plans are also underway to establish a Centre for Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, with a focus on drone technology and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.

Dr Abdulazeez dedicated the award to Education Minister Dr Maruf Olatunji Alausa and NBTE Executive Secretary Prof. Idris Muhammad Bugaje, crediting their support for the institution's progress.

He reiterated that Leadtech's vision extends beyond academic instruction to producing innovators, entrepreneurs and problem solvers capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria, Africa and the global community.
