The Executive Chairman of Ikorodu North Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Ameen Olawale Ibrahim, has distributed 500 free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms to underprivileged students across the council area as part of efforts to expand access to higher education.
The presentation ceremony took place yesterday at the Ikorodu North LCDA Council Secretariat, with beneficiaries selected through a comprehensive screening exercise designed to identify genuinely qualified and indigent candidates.
Speaking at the event, Mayor Ibrahim emphasised his administration's commitment to educational development and youth empowerment, stating that the initiative was intended to reduce the financial burden on parents while opening doors for academically promising students to pursue tertiary education.
The Chairman described education as a vital instrument for community growth, social mobility, and economic transformation, and pledged that his government would continue to invest in programmes aimed at uplifting young people within Ikorodu North.
The screening process was transparent, ensuring fairness and credibility in the selection of beneficiaries. The ceremony drew education stakeholders, community leaders, parents, and well wishers who praised the council for the intervention.
Residents described the gesture as timely and impactful, calling on beneficiaries to make the most of the opportunity by excelling in their examinations and representing Ikorodu North LCDA with distinction.
The distribution of 500 free JAMB forms is expected to broaden access to tertiary education and reflects the administration's focus on human capital development at the grassroots level.
