Minaret University, Ikirun, Osun State, formally inducted its pioneer student cohort on Wednesday, 30 April 2026, marking a defining moment in the institution's early history with its maiden matriculation ceremony held at the university's main campus.
The ceremony was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof Abdur Rahman Oladele Abdullah, who described the occasion as more than a formal registration, framing it as a pledge of the university's commitment to academic excellence and moral discipline.
Beyond the induction of students, the day also recorded a significant administrative milestone. Chancellor Barrister Azeez Folorunso Alatoye officially inaugurated the Parents Consultative Assembly (PCA), a governance structure designed to create a direct line of communication between university management and guardians, ensure parents function as active stakeholders in institutional development, and align the university's academic goals with family expectations and support.
The event drew a distinguished gathering of attendees, including members of the Governing Council, principal officers, community leaders and stakeholders from across Nigeria's education sector.
Registrar Oluyide Olu Lawal, in an official statement, captured the weight of the occasion.
"The maiden matriculation signifies Minaret University's commitment to academic excellence, moral discipline, and responsible citizenship," Olu Lawal noted.
The establishment of Minaret University, Ikirun, adds to the growing number of tertiary institutions in Osun State, with its pioneer matriculation signalling the formal launch of academic activities and the beginning of a new chapter for students, staff and the wider Ikirun community.
