Moniepoint Group has announced a N3 billion investment to establish Innovation Hubs in three Nigerian federal universities over the next three years, marking one of the most significant private sector commitments to higher education in the country's recent history.

The hubs will be sited at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) in Ile-Ife, the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) in Zaria. The three institutions were deliberately chosen to spread the initiative's impact across Nigeria's geopolitical regions, ensuring that access to technical training is not concentrated in one location.

Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Moniepoint Group, Tosin Eniolorunda, disclosed the rationale behind the investment, stating, "When you look at the success of companies like Moniepoint, it's easy to forget that it all started with the foundational training we received right here in Nigerian universities. This initiative is about paying that trust forward. Nigeria's digital economy cannot run on potential alone; it requires immense, localized talent density."

Eniolorunda further noted, "Nigeria's future will to a very large extent be built by Nigerians trained in Nigerian institutions. These three Hubs are my contribution to making that future credible by creating a solid pipeline for the emergence of great products and ideas. To truly scale our digital economy, we need high-density, industry-ready tech talent as a bulwark. We are investing these billions of Naira to ensure our tech ecosystem is powered by sustainable, homegrown excellence."

Each hub will function as a permanent centre for hands-on training in software engineering, data science, artificial intelligence, design, robotics, product development, and entrepreneurship. The programme, open to students across all faculties, will move participants through structured, cohort-based learning, mentorship, and real-world project execution.

The Vice Chancellor of OAU, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, expressed appreciation for the partnership, stating, "The Moniepoint Innovation Hub will not only expand what our students can learn but also transform what they believe is possible. We are grateful to Moniepoint for choosing to root this investment in our institutions, and we are committed to ensuring that every naira translates into opportunity for our students and for Nigeria."

The formal announcement was made at OAU and was attended by the vice chancellors of all three institutions, alongside senior figures from academia, industry, and Nigeria's broader technology ecosystem.

Beyond funding, Moniepoint will contribute curriculum development, mentorship, internship pathways, and expert-led sessions delivered by its engineering, product, and business teams.
