Nine hundred and thirty six students at the Federal College of Education, Yola, have had their institutional fees covered following a ₦69,210,600 disbursement by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) in the latest release of student support funding under the federal government's education loan initiative.

The payment was made in three tranches in October 2025, with NELFUND confirming the details in an update shared on its official platform.

The College's Provost, Mohammed Usman Degereji, acknowledged receipt of the funds in a letter addressed to NELFUND. "I write to acknowledge receipt of the sum of N69,210,600, disbursed by the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as institutional fees for the benefit of nine hundred and thirty six students of the College," he stated, confirming that the funds had been applied towards student fees.

The Institution described the disbursement as meaningful support for students working towards their qualifications. "We appreciate the commitment of NELFUND towards expanding access to higher education and supporting students in achieving their academic aspirations," the provost's letter added.

NELFUND said the payment forms part of its continuing effort to ease financial pressure on students across participating institutions nationwide.

For the 936 students at FCE Yola who benefited, the disbursement removes an immediate barrier that could otherwise disrupt their studies. Nigeria's education loan scheme remains one of the more direct policy tools available to address financial exclusion that prevents capable students from completing their programmes, and such releases demonstrate that the fund is operational beyond its launch announcements.
