The Association of Registrars of Nigerian Universities (ARNU) has convened registrars from federal, state, and private universities across Nigeria for a six day workshop focused on navigating technological transformation in higher education.

The programme, scheduled from July 6 to 11 at the National Universities Commission headquarters in Abuja, runs alongside the association's 79th Business Meeting, where members will deliberate on university governance, institutional reforms and sustainable development.

Themed "Nigerian Universities in the Era of Technological Transformation: Challenges, Opportunities, and Pathways to Sustainable Growth," the workshop reflects mounting pressure on Nigerian universities to embrace innovation, improve operational efficiency and strengthen their global competitiveness.

Public Relations Officer Atinuke Oguntunde, in a statement, said the theme underscores the need for universities to adapt to rapid technological changes while leveraging emerging opportunities for institutional growth. Participants will examine four key subject areas shaping the future of university administration. Discussions will cover the Nigerian university system in the 21st century with particular focus on the funding and autonomy paradox, the role of universities as catalysts for the national data protection programme, perspectives on university management from the office of a vice chancellor, and advancing performance systems for sustainable institutional growth.

The sessions will be led by prominent academics and policymakers, including Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu, Mohammed Musa Kida, Olayemi Akinwumi, Vincent Olatunji, and Florence Oluchi Sunny Ibeh, through keynote addresses, panel discussions, and technical sessions.

The 79th Business Meeting will run concurrently, providing members the opportunity to review the association's activities, adopt key resolutions, and set strategic priorities for university administration nationwide.

ARNU stated that the event demonstrates its commitment to strengthening university administration and enhancing institutional capacity across Nigeria's higher education sector. The gathering marks the association's 4th annual workshop and draws participation from registrars representing the full range of Nigerian universities.
