Northwest University, Kano (NWU) has introduced stricter examination regulations, barring mobile phones, bags, and children from examination halls ahead of its forthcoming examinations.
The new rules were communicated in a circular dated 13 February 2026, signed by the Dean of Students' Affairs, Dr Ibrahim Musa, and issued through the Office of the Vice Chancellor and the Students' Affairs Division. The circular was issued pursuant to directives from university management and resolutions of the University Examination Committee.
Children, including babies and toddlers, will no longer be allowed into examination halls under any circumstances. Nursing mothers have been advised to utilise the university crèche at the Hajia Rabi Dantata Building on the main campus, where their children can be cared for and supervised during examination periods.
Students are required to come to every examination with their university identity card and examination slip, both of which must remain visibly displayed on their desks for the duration of the sitting. The university also announced a firm prohibition on mobile phones and bags inside examination halls, stating that it would no longer entertain cases of theft involving such items.
The management called on all students to adhere strictly to the regulations to guarantee a smooth and orderly examination process.
