The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Imo State have agreed to collaborate with the Healthy and Sanitised Environment Foundation (THASEF) on environmental sanitation and public health initiatives across the state.

The collaboration was formalised following a courtesy visit by THASEF's Imo State Chapter to the NSCDC Command Headquarters, where the State Commandant, Mr Basil Igwebueze, received the delegation alongside senior officers.

Amaraegbu Obinna Daniel, Imo State Programme Coordinator of THASEF, requested a strategic partnership with the corps to promote environmental sanitation, public safety, and community health throughout the state.

Responding, Mr. Igwebueze stated that the objectives of THASEF aligned with the statutory mandate of the NSCDC, particularly in safeguarding lives, property, and critical infrastructure. He assured the foundation of the Command's readiness to assist, including personnel support, security coverage during sanitation exercises, and enforcement of environmental safety measures.

THASEF also approached the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Imo State Command, for collaboration. Daniel explained that the foundation's 2026 environmental sanitation and public health programmes create partnership opportunities. He noted that the initiatives align with the NYSC's mandate of community development and service.

NYSC State Coordinator, Evans Nnanna Okwor, described the proposal as "apt and well timed," adding that the NYSC already implements environmental programmes through corps members deployed across communities in Imo State.
