The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved 24 new programmes at Kwara State University, Malete, to take off on a full time basis from the 2026/2027 academic session.
The approval is contained in a letter addressed to the Vice Chancellor, Prof Jimoh Shaykh Luqman, and signed by the NUC Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei, according to a statement issued on Wednesday in Ilorin by KWASU Director of University Relations, Prof Saeedat Aliyu.
Aliyu confirmed that 14 of the approved programmes are at the undergraduate level while 10 are at the postgraduate level.
The approved undergraduate programmes are:
B.Sc. Architecture
B.Sc. Quantity Surveying
B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics
B.Nsc. Nursing Science
B.Ed. Educational Technology
B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling
B.Ed. Health Education
B.Ed. Entrepreneurship Education
B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management
B.Ed. Technology Education
B. Community Health Science
B.Eng. Computer Engineering
B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering
B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering
The approved postgraduate programmes are:
M.A. Fine and Applied Arts
Ph.D. Fine and Applied Arts
M.A. Performing Arts
Ph.D. Performing Arts
M.A. Linguistics
PGD M. Tech
Ph.D. Food Science and Technology
Ph.D. Hospitality and Tourism Management
Ph.D. Public Administration
Ph.D. Mass Communication
Prof Shaykh Luqman congratulated staff members who worked to ensure the success of the NUC resource verification exercise, pledging that the university would sustain its standards in teaching, research and community development.
"The university will continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research, and community development for which the institution is reputed. This is by producing excellent human capital resources needed to propel global development," he stated.
