The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps, Brig Gen Olakunle Nafiu, has charged outgoing members of the 2025 Batch B Stream I to apply the entrepreneurial skills gained during their service year and remain committed to national unity as they transition into the next phase of their lives.
Nafiu delivered the charge in a farewell message to the corps members, describing their contributions to communities across the country as reflections of patriotism, discipline, and selfless service.
The NYSC Director General commended the outgoing corps members for their commitment to their various places of primary assignment, stating that their efforts contributed to community development and reinforced the objectives for which the Scheme was established.
Nafiu encouraged the corps members to utilise the knowledge acquired through the Scheme's Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme, noting that the initiative was designed to equip young graduates with practical skills to establish businesses and create employment opportunities.
He stressed that the country's economic growth depends not only on government but also on young Nigerians prepared to innovate, build enterprises, and contribute meaningfully to national development.
The Director General further urged the departing corps members to remain worthy ambassadors of the Scheme by upholding the values of discipline, integrity, and service wherever they find themselves, adding that national development requires the collective commitment of every citizen.
Nafiu also called on them to sustain their belief in a united Nigeria as they step into new responsibilities.
Wishing the corps members success in their future careers and personal endeavours, the Director General expressed confidence that the experiences gained during their service year would prepare them for greater responsibilities in society.
The Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development programme remains a central component of the NYSC Scheme, aimed at reducing dependence on white collar employment among graduates and encouraging self reliance through vocational and entrepreneurial training.
Corps members under the 2025 Batch B Stream I served across various states of the federation before their disengagement, contributing to community development projects in education, health, agriculture, and other sectors during their primary assignments.
