The Director General of the National Youth Service Corps has called on corps members and staff to uphold the values of sacrifice, compassion, tolerance, and national unity as Nigeria joins the global Muslim community in marking Eid el Kabir.
In a message to corps members and staff, the Director General noted that the virtues central to the Eid el Kabir celebration aligned closely with the founding ideals of the NYSC Scheme, which he described as an institution renowned for excellence and selfless service.
Acknowledging that most corps members would be observing the Sallah period away from their families and in unfamiliar cultural environments, the Director General encouraged them to view the experience as an opportunity rather than a limitation.
"I encourage you to savour this unique opportunity, embrace your host communities, and let this experience broaden your appreciation of Nigeria's diversity," he stated.
He described Eid el Kabir as a celebration embodying total submission to God, steadfast obedience, and harmonious coexistence, values he said were reflected in the daily work of corps members serving across the country.
The Director General urged all members of the NYSC family to remain committed to national unity and peaceful coexistence regardless of religious or ethnic background, stressing that the season offered a moment for renewed dedication to service.
He closed the message with a note of goodwill, wishing corps members and staff renewed strength, joy, peace, and fulfilment in their service to the nation.
