Corps members serving across Nigeria have received a message from the Director General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) urging them to carry the values of the Eid al Fitr season into their daily service, as Muslims mark the end of Ramadan.

Brigadier General Olakunle Nafiu, in a message addressed to corps members and NYSC staff, said the ideals associated with the season sit at the heart of what the scheme was established to achieve. "Eid al Fitr represents a period of sacrifice, gratitude, peace, and compassion for others. These values align closely with the enduring ideals of the National Youth Service Corps," he said.

Nafiu called on Corps Members to remain committed to national unity and mutual respect regardless of their diverse ethnic, religious, and regional backgrounds, describing collective service and selflessness as essential to building a more cohesive Nigeria. He also extended the message to NYSC staff, urging them to sustain the same dedication in supporting Corps Members through their service year.

The Director General prayed that the season would bring renewed strength, joy, and fulfilment to everyone within the NYSC community.

For Corps Members currently deployed across the country, the message serves as a reminder that the service year is designed to be more than an administrative requirement. At its best, it is meant to be an exercise in exactly the kind of cross cultural goodwill that the Eid season calls for.
