The Oyo State chapter of the National Youth Service Corps has directed Corps members serving across the state to comply fully with the curfew imposed by the state government, assuring them and their families that their safety remains a priority.
The directive was contained in a statement issued by the Head of Information and Public Relations Unit, NYSC Oyo State, Faniyi Abimbola Remilekun, on behalf of State Coordinator Kayode Ola Peters.
The scheme acknowledged that the curfew announcement had generated concern among some Corps members but moved to calm nerves, stressing that security agencies were actively working with the Oyo State Government to protect lives and property across the state.
"Management acknowledges the concerns and apprehension expressed by some Corps members following the announcement of the curfew. While these concerns are understandable, the NYSC Oyo State Secretariat wishes to reassure all Corps members that there is no cause for alarm," the statement read.
NYSC described compliance with the curfew as both a civic responsibility and a precautionary measure, urging Corps members, particularly those in affected areas, to remain calm, vigilant, and law abiding while following all directives issued by the state government and relevant authorities.
The scheme also moved to reassure parents, guardians, and family members, disclosing that it was maintaining close contact with stakeholders and monitoring developments alongside government and security agencies.
"The management also wishes to reassure parents, guardians, and loved ones of Corps members that the scheme remains in constant communication with relevant stakeholders and is closely monitoring developments in collaboration with government and security agencies. Every necessary step is being taken to ensure the continued safety and welfare of Corps members throughout the state," the statement added.
NYSC further urged Corps members to remain focused on their service responsibilities, exercise caution in daily activities, and cooperate with constituted authorities. While acknowledging that the curfew could cause temporary inconvenience, the scheme maintained that the measure was necessary to preserve peace and maintain public order across Oyo State.
