A National Youth Service Corps member, Segun Ajibare, has been arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps and transported from Osogbo, Osun State, to Ilorin, Kwara State, after publishing podcasts questioning the transparency of a bridge rehabilitation project reportedly worth ₦1.2bn in Kwara State.

Ajibare, posted to Osogbo, was picked up on Wednesday by a joint team of DSS and NSCDC operatives who, sources say, trailed him before making the arrest. He was subsequently moved from Osogbo to Ilorin, according to sources familiar with the incident.

The arrest is linked to Ajibare's sustained public commentary on governance and project accountability in Kwara State, particularly a podcast he published on May 4, 2026, titled: "Moro Bridge collapse: Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq's 2024 rehab under Abdulquawiy Olododo now questioned, ₦27m vs ₦1.2bn, Kwarans demand full transparency."

The podcast questioned the cost, quality, and transparency of the rehabilitation of the Moro Bridge in Kwara State, drawing attention to alleged discrepancies between the amount reportedly budgeted and what was spent under the supervision of former Commissioner for Works, Abdulquawiy Olododo.

Sources said Ajibare managed to send an emergency message to associates shortly after his arrest, before his phone went unreachable. "He has just been arrested by a team of DSS and NSCDC and has been transported to Ilorin," one source stated. "They picked him up in Osogbo, where he is serving. From Osogbo, they started moving him to Ilorin."

A source further alleged that one of the operatives privately informed Ajibare that Olododo, who currently seeks election to the House of Representatives, was behind the arrest order.

"In fact, one of the officers confidentially told him that the former commissioner was the person behind the operation, but they asked him not to disclose it," the source disclosed.

Sources also alleged that operatives visited the NYSC office to obtain clearance and notified the Civil Defence command in Osogbo before proceeding with the arrest.

Olododo did not respond to telephone calls or messages sent to him. The Kwara State NSCDC spokesperson, Ayoola Michael Shola, requested additional time to respond but had not done so as of the time of filing this report.
