Prospective corps members scrambling to check their 2026 Batch B Stream I call up numbers were met with an inaccessible portal on Thursday, hours after the National Youth Service Corps directed them to do so.

When FIJ visited the portal on Thursday with details of prospective corps members inputted to verify whether call up numbers had been released, it returned an error message instead of the expected results.

"Registration has closed. You cannot edit or continue your registration," the portal responded.

Some prospective corps members who spoke with FIJ confirmed they had successfully accessed the portal earlier that morning before it became unavailable.

"Yes, I was able to access the portal this morning for my call-up number, but it's now under maintenance," one prospective corps member told FIJ.

The development came shortly after the NYSC issued a circular dated 20 May, signed by Director General Nura Umar, approving the 2026 Batch B Stream I orientation course to hold across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

"I am pleased to inform you that the Director General has approved the 2026 Batch 'B' Stream I orientation course to hold in the thirty six (36) states and the FCT," the circular reads in part.

It remained unclear how long the portal would remain under maintenance or the extent to which the downtime could affect the call up number retrieval process for prospective corps members awaiting mobilisation.
