OAU Hostel Allocation is just the school’s way of sharing out the available bed spaces to students. Since there are significantly more students than beds, the university uses an online ballot system to ensure fairness. It’s basically a digital race where the fastest students to click the button get the spot.

So, how do you join the race? When the OAU Hostel Allocation portal officially opens, you will need to log in with your phone or laptop and have a very fast internet connection. You will see a button to request Bed Space, and you have to click it immediately. If you are quick enough, the system will lock you in a room for you. It’s a simple "first come, first served" rule that gives everyone a fair shot.

No. The system usually assigns halls automatically based on your gender and faculty, though you may sometimes be able to choose from a list of available halls if you are fast enough.

Q. Can I swap my hall with a friend?
A. Official swapping is rarely allowed. If you must swap, it usually requires a formal letter to the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), and both parties must agree.

Q. How long do I have to pay after securing a space?
A. Usually 48 to 72 hours. If you do not pay within this window, the system will automatically revoke the space and put it back into the pool.
