PhD candidates, research supervisors, and academic staff at Nigerian Universities have a narrow window to apply for an International Doctoral Education Programme in France, with the University of Lagos flagging the opportunity ahead of a 30 March 2026 deadline.

The Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) on Doctoral Education is hosted by the University of Lille, France, in collaboration with the University of Valladolid and SGroup, a network of European universities. UNILAG's Office of International Relations, Partnerships and Prospects brought the programme to the attention of its academic community, noting that it is open to PhD candidates, supervisors, researchers, and administrative staff with an interest in doctoral training practices.

The programme covers emerging themes shaping doctoral education globally, including International research collaboration, open science, Artificial Intelligence, and the evolving relationship between higher education and society. Participants will examine new approaches to doctoral supervision, share best practices in research training, and engage with peers from Institutions across multiple countries.

Delivery follows a blended format, opening with an online session on 18 May 2026, before moving to an in person programme at the University of Lille from 29 June to 3 July 2026. The working language throughout is English. Only 25 participants will be selected, making early application essential for those who intend to apply.

Participants may also be eligible for an Erasmus Plus mobility grant depending on their institution's guidelines. UNILAG applicants are required to notify the SGroup UNILAG Coordinator, Dr Victor Onifade, after submitting their application to ensure proper documentation and coordination.

For Nigerian Doctoral Candidates seeking International exposure and the chance to engage with European research training frameworks, the programme represents a practical opportunity that rarely lands this close to home. The 30 March deadline allows little time for hesitation.
