Corps members posted to Osun State for the 2026 Batch A Stream II orientation exercise have been advised to travel only during daylight hours and use recognised motor parks as the April 22 commencement date approaches.
The Osun State NYSC Coordinator, Ita Kubiangha, issued the advisory through the scheme's spokesperson, Catherine Otemuyiwa, in Osogbo, urging prospective corps members to prioritise personal safety throughout their journey to the orientation camp.
Kubiangha called on transport unions in the state to assist corps members by conveying them to the orientation camp at approved rates, describing the collaboration as essential to ensuring safe and orderly movement ahead of the exercise.
"We advise corps members that night travel exposes them to risks, including accidents and security threats. Parents and guardians should support and encourage their children as they undertake this phase of national service," he stated.
The three week orientation exercise is scheduled to run from April 22 to May 12, with the swearing in ceremony set for April 24. Corps members were urged to adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and remain security conscious throughout the orientation period.
Kubiangha reaffirmed the commitment of the scheme and its stakeholders to the welfare and security of all corps members deployed to Osun State, adding that parents, guardians and the public have a role to play in supporting prospective corps members as they begin this phase of national service.
