Dreamers College Fund 2026 Application Process

If you're a young Nigerian dreaming of a university education but worried about how to fund it, the Dreamers College Fund Scholarship, better known as the Dreamrite College Scholarship, could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Applications for the 2026 cycle are now open, so before applying, learn what the programme offers, who qualifies, how to apply, and what to expect along the way.

What is the Dreamers College Fund?

The Dreamers College Fund is a scholarship initiative run by the DreamRite Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organisation dedicated to giving young people in Africa the tools to secure their future through education and empowerment.

The foundation was built on a simple but powerful idea: talented, academically driven students shouldn't have to abandon their dreams of higher education simply because their families can't afford it.

DreamRite sees these students as tomorrow's innovators, business leaders, and changemakers, and the Dreamers College Fund exists to make sure a lack of funding never gets in the way of that potential.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

Each successful applicant receives a ₦1,000,000 (one million naira) grant to support their studies at any Nigerian accredited university. The fund is flexible and can go toward the following:

  • Tuition fees

  • On campus or off campus accommodation

  • Textbooks and course handouts

  • School stationery

  • Feeding while in school

  • Transportation to and from school

  • Other legitimate educational expenses

Beyond the financial award, recipients also gain access to mentorship and networking opportunities designed to support their ongoing academic and professional growth, not just help them get through school but help them build a foundation for what comes after.

The foundation awards a minimum of six scholarships per year, with the number of awards increasing as more resources become available.

Who Can Apply?

To qualify for the 2026 Dreamers College Fund Scholarship, you need to meet the following conditions:

  • Academic status: You must be either a recent secondary school graduate or a first year university student.

  • Citizenship: You must be a Nigerian citizen. (The scholarship is currently only offered in Nigeria.)

  • Age: You must be under 24 years old at the time of application. Applicants aged 24 and above are not eligible.

  • Admission status: You must have already secured university admission or demonstrate a strong likelihood of gaining admission within 12 months of applying.

  • Programme type: The scholarship covers degree or diploma programmes, including OND and HND, at any accredited Nigerian university.

Who Gets Priority?

Not every eligible applicant is treated equally in the selection process. DreamRite gives preference in this order:

  • First priority: Students in their first semester of university who need immediate funding to continue their education.

  • Second priority: Students who already have university admission but haven't resumed classes yet.

  • Third priority: Students who meet admission requirements and have a high chance of securing admission within 12 months.

If you fall into the first category, your application carries the most weight, so be sure to make that clear wherever the form allows it.
