The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has notified candidates registered for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) that the correction of subject combinations is now open.

The board announced in a statement posted on its official X page on Thursday morning, 19 February. The development will allow candidates who made errors during registration to rectify their subject choices before the examination.

JAMB also disclosed that as of Tuesday, 17 February, more than 1.5 million candidates have registered for the 2026 UTME. Despite having a daily registration capacity of 100,000 candidates, the board noted that registration centres nationwide are currently operating at barely 30 per cent capacity.

The board observed a marked decline in the rate of registrations and stated that many candidates "deliberately delay registration until the final days," a pattern it described as avoidable and potentially problematic.

JAMB has reiterated that there will be no extension to the registration deadline, with UTME 2026 registration set to close by the end of February. The sale of electronic PINs will end at midnight on Thursday, 26 February 2026, while actual registration at accredited centres will conclude on Saturday, 28 February 2026.

The board urged candidates who have not yet registered to act immediately to avoid last minute complications.
