Two modern 40 room ensuite female hostels have been commissioned at the Gadau Main Campus and Yuli Campus of Sa'adu Zungur University, Bauchi State, under the 2024 TETFund Annual Intervention Projects, marking a significant boost to student accommodation in the institution.

The commissioning, carried out by the Executive Secretary of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, Arc. Sonny Echono formed part of a nationwide presidential inauguration of projects executed through TETFund across tertiary institutions in Nigeria.

The Vice Chancellor of Sa'adu Zungur University, Professor Fatimah Tahir, described the development as a major milestone in the university's drive to create a conducive environment for learning and personal development, adding that adequate accommodation remains a critical component of academic success.

She commended TETFund for its sustained support to tertiary education and expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring continued investment in educational infrastructure across the country. Professor Tahir also acknowledged the efforts of the TETFund Executive Secretary, contractors, and project supervisors in the successful execution of the projects.

"This project is more than bricks and mortar. It reflects TETFund's commitment to enhancing student welfare and our determination as a university management to prioritise student centred development," she stated.

The Permanent Secretary representing the Commissioner for Higher Education and Regional Integration, Malam Isa Mohammed Tahir, described the newly commissioned hostels as a testament to the government's commitment to quality education and student welfare, noting that the facilities would provide students with a safe, secure, and conducive environment for learning and personal growth.

He stressed that a conducive living environment plays a vital role in academic performance and urged beneficiaries to ensure proper maintenance of the facilities for the benefit of future generations.

"The hostel is more than a building; it is a home away from home where friendships will be built, ideas exchanged, dreams nurtured, and future leaders developed," Malam Tahir noted.

The commissioning of the two hostels underscores the Federal Government's commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and improving living and learning conditions in Nigeria's tertiary institutions.
