The University of Ilorin has entered a formal research and academic partnership with the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences at the University of Karachi, establishing a framework for collaboration across chemical, biological, and pharmaceutical sciences.

The Memorandum of Understanding was executed during an online signing ceremony, with Prof Dr Muhammad Raza Shah, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences, and Mansur Adeleke Alfanla, Registrar of the University of Ilorin, appending their signatures on behalf of their respective institutions.

Shah stated that the agreement was designed to advance collaborative research spanning preclinical studies, translational research, and clinical investigations. He added that the partnership would also facilitate shared access to research facilities, equipment and other resources, subject to the availability of financial and institutional support.

According to him, the collaboration would strengthen research capacity, foster innovation, and contribute to scientific advancement through joint academic and research initiatives.

Alfanla noted that activities under the agreement would be guided by the scientific missions of both institutions, with particular focus on postgraduate education, collaborative research, and the dissemination of scientific knowledge.

Under the terms of the MoU, both institutions will pursue joint research projects and proposals, promote teaching and research activities, exchange scientific expertise, and develop skills in areas of mutual interest.

The agreement further provides opportunities for training and professional development of postgraduate students, young researchers, laboratory technicians, research assistants, research officers, and other academic and technical staff through mutually agreed collaborative programmes.

The partnership positions both universities to deepen their contributions to science and innovation through a structured, internationally anchored research relationship.
